The Tao of Fully Feeling; Harvesting Forgiveness Out of Blame by Pete Walker
Some key quotes from this book:
“The only pain that can be avoided is the pain that comes from trying to avoid unavoidable pain.”
“Self-esteem cannot be reclaimed while perfectionism prevails. Self-esteem is in many ways the opposite of perfectionism.”
“Ambivalating is one of the healing processes of psychotherapy. When clients are encouraged to thoroughly explore their conflicting feelings about job or relationship issues, they eventually connect with a deep intuitive sense about what is best for them.”
This book was shared to me by one of the participants I met in a Shamanic Training. He said, this book helped him massively as he was going through his own mental health challenges-Thank you my friend! and wherever you may be right now, may you experience the wonders of life and receive 360 degrees bountiful blessings.
It is hard to drop this book once you have started reading it. It has put words to feelings I cannot express. I feel this book understands me! Several times have I said to myself "right, that is exactly what I mean and how I feel". I highly recommend this book to those going through their own healing journey or basically to anyone :-).
Many Lives, Many Masters by Dr. Brian Weiss
Some key quotes from this book:
“Realize that life is more than meets the eye. Life goes beyond our five senses. Be receptive to new knowledge and to new experiences.”
“Our body is just a vehicle for us while we’re here. It is our soul and our spirit that last forever.” I”
“That we must share our knowledge with other people. That we all have abilities far beyond what we use. Some of us find this out sooner than others. That you should check your vices before you come to this point. If you do not, you carry them over with you to another life. Only we can rid ourselves … of the bad habits that we accumulate when we are in a physical state. The Masters cannot do that for us. If you choose to fight and not to rid yourself, then you will carry them over into another life. And only when you decide that you are strong enough to master the external problems, then you will no longer have them in your next life.”
This book was mentioned by my teacher in Hypnotherapy. When I joined this class/course, I was a skeptic. I was there listening intently to debunk any 'unscientific' therapeutic claims. In my search, I read this book and it blew my mind. If a well-known medical doctor and past-life regression therapist believes and has witnessed the therapeutic power of hypnotherapy and past-life regression, then there must be some truth to it. I have read other books by Dr. Brian Weiss and they are also very interesting. Check out the following titles: Messages from the Masters; Same Soul Many Bodies; Through Time Into Healing; Mirrors of Time; and Only Love Is Real. Fast forward... I am now a practicing Clinical Hypnotherapist.
The Anatomy of Loneliness, How to find your way back to connection by Teal Swan
“All too often, people take no action until the fear goes away. But life cannot be lived like that. It cannot be lived like that anymore than it can be lived in spite of fear.”
― Teal Swan, The Anatomy of Loneliness
Words are not enough to express how helpful Teal Swan's teaching have been for me. There was a time when I would binge watch her youtube videos and binge read her books. She has other well-written self-help books that you might want to check out: The Connection Process, The Completion Process, Shadows before Dawn and the Sculptor in the Sky. Teal Swan has this deep understanding of human suffering in its many forms. I think there are many ways and many layers to approaching and understanding human suffering such as mental illnesses. Teal Swan is able to give a perspective from the "deep and hidden" areas of our lives and psyche. To me it is like the root of the root cause. At the moment, she is one of the core influencers as to how I do my client-sessions. Not because she is "Teal Swan", it is because her recommended methods work!
